Join park team members at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, for the 11th annual Youth Fishing Day and open house at Finger Lakes State Park.

Bring the kids for a day of fishing from the banks of Peabody Lake. Participants will learn basic fishing skills and take part in fishing games. Prizes will be awarded to participants aged 12 and under for biggest fish, most fish and first fish caught. Fishing poles and bait will be provided for the first 25 registered in advance. The event is free for all ages and no fishing permit is required for those under age 15. To register, call 573-443-5315.

Stick around following the event for an open house to learn more about Finger Lakes State Park. Missouri State Parks team members invite the public to attend an information meeting to provide input and comments and ask questions about the park and its operations. Thee open house is set for noon to 1 p.m. at the beach parking lot.

Park team members will be present at the visitor center to answer questions and provide information.

Input from the public is important to Missouri State Parks. These informational meetings are being held virtually or in person in all state parks and historic sites to help create two-way communication with the public. The meetings will inform the public on the current status and future plans for the park or historic site and offer visitors the opportunity to comment on the facilities.
