Henry Dale Stark, 80, El Dorado Springs, was born in Appleton City, May 1, 1942 to Albert L. and E. Lucile Stark and passed away on Jan. 5, 2023.

Dale grew up on a farm close to Harwood and had many adventures with his three sisters and four brothers. As he grew to a teenager, he ventured to Harwood and spent time with his buddies there.

On Sept. 25, 1965, he married Janice Prough, and to their union, two sons were born. They lived in Independence until March 1970 when they made the decision to move back to the country life. Dale worked at Continental Telephone Company and later at 3M until his retirement in 2003. He built a woodworking shop and often said spending time there was like a “vacation at home.” He enjoyed starting out his day visiting with his close friends at the local coffee shop.

One of the biggest highlights in his life was his grandchildren. He was a father, brother, and friend, but one of his favorite names was Grandad. He enjoyed going to ballgames, rodeos and many of their school activities. He could often be seen going through town with a grandson to help chore.

He was a member of Clintonville Masonic Lodge #482, Order of the Eastern Star #148, and First Baptist Church all of El Dorado Springs.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert and Lucile Stark; father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Helen Prough; brother, Al Plummer; sister, Della Carpenter; brothers-in-law, Alan and Donald Carpenter; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Stark, Maxine Stark and Mary Ann Plummer.

Survivors include his wife, Janice, of the home; sons, Travis and wife, Charla, El Dorado Springs; Trent and his wife, Jennifer, Conway; grandchildren, Hesston and wife, Fallyn; Heath and wife, Lora, all of El Dorado Springs; Case and Carlie, Conway; brothers, Woodrow Stark, Jerry Stark and wife, Marilyn; Kent Stark, Galen Stark and wife, Shirley; sisters, Maxine Carpenter and Arlene Bandy; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Linda Prough. Hesston and Fallyn are expecting his first great grandchild, Kixton Dale, later this month.

Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs with Pastor Joe Trussell and Pastor Brent Bland officiating. Music was provided by Rita Farris and Rusty Carver. Interment was at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Schell City under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Hesston Stark, Heath Stark, Case Stark, Doug Stark, Darrin Stark, and Devin Stark.
