Kelly Dawn Forest, 63, passed away in her home at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021. Kelly passed peacefully surrounded by her children. Kelly was born March 18, 1958 to Lilburn Desmond “LD” Forest and Thelma Marie (Marshall) Forest in Nevada. Kelly lived most of her life in El Dorado Springs, with the exception of a few years she lived in Texas. Kelly spent many years working for Service Master doing contractor services. Kelly was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and recently became a great grandmother in July. Her family was a great source of pride for her. Kelly had a love for the outdoors, she loved to hunt, fish and go camping. She participated in several archery tournaments. Kelly loved to go spend time at Roaring River State Park fishing and visiting friends there. In 1997 Kelly was featured on the cover of Rural Missouri Magazine. Kelly had a love for travel and seeing new things. Kelly loved to share stories about growing up on the farm helping her daddy in the milk barn and riding horses. Kelly along with her family was baptized together at the Church of God (Holiness) in 1997.

Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, L.D. and Thelma Forest; late husband, Richard Shook, and step-son, Waylon Shook.

Kelly is survived by her children, Brandon Esry, and his wife, Shannon, – El Dorado Springs; daughter, Kensy Schmidt, and husband, Devin, – El Dorado Springs, daughter, Kassy Alexander, and husband, Ed, – Fort Leavenworth, KS, and step-daughter, Chastity Shook – Nevada; 11 grandkids: Paige and Ian Esry, Kenley Widener, Kylee Walker, Alandan Wynes, Jacey Swopes, Lynnsey, Natalee, McKenzie and Bryce Alexander, Riddick Shook; one great-grandson, Joesph Waylon Wynes; one brother, Gary Forest, and wife, Kay, – El Dorado Springs; multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Kelly will be truly missed by all who loved her.

Services for Kelly Forest were held Saturday, Nov. 13, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home

Kelly was laid to rest in the beautiful handmade casket that was made by her son, Brandon, per her request. Kelly’s final resting place is with her momma and daddy at the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery.
