Letha Belle Smith, 92, of El Dorado Springs, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital. Letha was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Boulder, CO to Hobart and Kaite (Reed) Staples. She was united in marriage to William Dempsey Fisher in Pineville on May 13, 1943 and he preceded her in death. In 1965 she married Herschel Smith in Dederick and he also preceded her in death.

Letha worked at several jobs including five years at the Star Poultry Plant in Anderson, MO, and five years at Key in Nevada  before moving to California where she resided for 20 years. Following her return to Missouri she worked at the Nevada State Hospital for an additional 20 years until her retirement in December of 1988. She enjoyed the outdoors, flower gardening, her church and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Vivian Fisher, Nevada; David Fisher, El Dorado Springs; and Dick Cooper, El Dorado Springs; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Blevens; and brothers, Harry Staples and David Barry. In addition to Dempsey Fisher and Herschel Smith she was preceded in death by her parents; baby boy Fisher; a daughter, Linda Sue Fisher; and a son, Dennis Fisher, who died in Vietnam.

Services were Monday, July 13, in Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Mark Mitchell officiating.  Interment followed in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
