Born April 2, 1940, to Clarence and Bernice (Bricker) Maris in Rexford, KS. He has three brothers, older brother Clyde and two younger brothers, the twins, Jack and Jim.

Bob spent his early years in Rexford working on the family farm where he honed his ability to fix almost anything mechanical. He build his first car at the age of 13. He trained formally and worked his early career as a well respected mechanic at Hiett Motors in Colby, KS.

Robert married Willa Jane Brown (Sam) in 1960. They stated a family in 1961 when Tina was born, followed by Kent in 1963.

The family moved to El Dorado Springs in November 1978 when he switched careers to sell Snap-On Tools. He moved to Matco Tools after about 10 years. Following his tool selling years, he began his career as a wheeler-dealer, buying, repairing and selling cars. This is when he “earned” the nickname “Honest Bob” with his motto “I cheat you right!”

Bob passed in his sleep at home the morning of Dec. 6, 2019, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He leaves behind his children, Tina and Kent; his grandchildren, Samie, Danie and Charlie; and nine great-grandchildren.

He will be missed. RIP Honest Bob.
