Virginia Madeline Moberly, 100, Nevada, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, at Nathan Richard Health Care Center in Nevada. Virginia was born Nov. 11, 1922 in Richards to James R. and Lucy Mae (Lawson) McConnaughey. She was united in marriage to William Bryan Moberly on May 19, 1947 in Ft. Scott, KS and he preceded her in death in July of 1987.

Virginia grew up in the Richards and Deerfield area and graduated from Richards High School Class of 1939. She lived most of her life in Deerfield and Nevada. Virginia worked at the Vernon County Courthouse for a number of years, Ramey’s Village Market Deli, and at Bob’s Shoe Warehouse until her retirement. For many years she enjoyed going on trips to Casinos to different states with her friend Barbara Hume. Following her retirement, Virginia continued to work from her home ironing clothes for several families in Nevada.

Virginia is survived by three daughters, Diana “Susie” Pyle, El Dorado Springs, Connie Heim, Nevada, and Annette Scotten (Dick), Nevada; one son, Mark Moberly, Nevada; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Blake Moberly; her son-in-law, Max Pyle; and her siblings, Buck McConnaughey, Morse McConnaughey, Gene McConnaughey, Lucille Kash, and Dorothy Pettibon.

Services were Monday, Dec. 19, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment followed in the National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS,
