Sue (O’Neal) Gilbert, 74, El Dorado Springs, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on Tuesday evening, Dec. 6, 2016. She was born March 23, 1942, in Oklahoma, the daughter of David B. O’Neal and Nadene Sue (Whitaker) O’Neal.
Sue graduated from El Dorado Springs High School and worked at Community Bank until her retirement.
She married Lynn R. Gilbert on July 2, 1960. They were married for 56 years. To their union two daughters were born.
Sue and Lynn lived in El Dorado Springs except for the time that Lynn spent in the National Guard, and they lived in Fort Knox.
Preceding Sue in death were her parents and her brother, Gerald O’Neal.
Survivors include her husband, Lynn; daughters, Kelly and Kasey; and grandson, Benjamin – all of El Dorado Springs; numerous cousins, and many beloved nieces and nephews, who called her “Aunt Sue.”
The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. The family will hold a private service at a later date. Disposition was by inurnment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Benjamin Arthur Gilbert-Leaver Family Fund and left at the funeral home.
