Taberville Report

Dains Fish Farm

It’s raining catfish and flatheads. My garden tiller ran out of gas about half wa through. Then I had to open the store and never did make it down there and now it’s stuck.  I only lacked three rows finishing up and the grass is as tall as my corn.

How’s fishing? It’s difficult righ now because the river is o unpredictable. They might just leave it 10 foot over the boat ramp. Just enough to mess up my custoners’ fishing.  I could sell more bait if they could fish.

The next bo ramp is Roscoe

Yes. The river is swift there.

You can catch fish if you get in the right places. Some people have lines in. They caught  30 and  40 lb. blues yesterday that I weighed. One guy caught five flatheads in the last three days. Nothing real big. I think his big fish was 30. He was using bull heads. That’s what the other two were caught on – bullheads. If you use live bait you can catch better fish.

You can catch more with cut bait?

Oh, yeah. But smaller. Five and under , you can catch a limit of them pretty easy– cut carp and perch. Shad have been hard to get.  Those old blue cats will eat a hotdog.

To be honest with you other than some of our boat rental people have gone out and and didn’t have any luck. Of course, they don’t know the lake.

Caplinger Woods

(Durng the rain Satureay morning) I’ve got a couple of fishermen down there, But I’m not sure. I think they are kind of waiting it out right now. Most people are bying minnows. They are catcing some crappie, catfish and hybrid stripers.  The catfish and stripers are pretty good size. The crappie are smaller than they were earlier. I’m seling a lot of gold fish they’re using for catfsh.

Some people float down river and catch fish.
