Taberville Report

Dains Fish Farm

Fishing is pretty good. I’ve got some camper guys out and they caught all the fish they wanted. They caught their limit every time.

They caught blues and a couple of flatheads, between 30 and 45 lbs.

You can only keep two over the slot length and they had two over.  There was three of them so they were OK.

He was using perch, carp and bullheads.

Q. Do you have to trim the spurs on bullheads?

He doesn’t but I like to.  I think they bite better.

They are doing pretty good over at Schell off the bank. Everybody is catching a few fish.  The last guy in here caught half a dozen off the bank at Schell.  I think they were using cut up gold fish.

Q. Do you have to keep the bait up off the bottom?

No, they usually just use a hook and a slip sinker and just throw it out there. The bottom of that river is really clean. It ain’t muddy or nuthin’. It flows ,you know. It’s either solid clay or solid rock or solid something.  The bottom of that thing is just shiny clean from one end to the other.

The fish are biting. They are catching some walleye and crappie either throwing crankbaits of fishing over brushpiles.

Q. How’s the size running?

They have been catching some short walleye. The crappie have been mostly short. So next year they will be keepers.

Come see us at Stockton Lake.
