The Cedar County Commission met December 23,2024. Present: Kenneth Thomton; Presiding Commissioner; Ted Anderson, Southern Commissioner; Don Boultinghouse, Northern Commissioner; and Heather York, County Clerk.
Motion by Boultinghouse approve closing at noon on Christmas Eve, second by Anderson. Anderson – Yes; Boultinghouse – Yes; Thomton – Yes
Discussed updating EEZ board as the old board needs replacements to fill seats that have expired. Clerk York will set a meeting up in future weeks to assist in the reorganization process.
2025 Budget Hearing opening to begin requests
Interim Treasurer Peggy Kenney stopped in for weekly report.
DJ Ford, Road & Bridge Supervisor discussed the weekly activity report. Ford reported Turkey Creek had pilings driven and the bridge is progressing well.
Collector Lisa Nelson presented weekly court orders 120960,121292-121357. Reported that she will not be using the same company for tax statements next year. She has a dispute with the vendor over the billing costs.
Discussed SB190lSB756 Senior Tax Order to be reviewed with requested changes for next week.
Met with Judge Munton and Shane Hirschman for the 2025 budget for Court Administration, Circuit Court and Juvenile Office. Barret has been hired to handle Juvenile cases, and Olivia has been hired to handle all GAL cases for the four-county area.
Assessor Leah Morton presented weekly court order reports 12/16/24-12/20/24
Chief Deputy Jeffries presented weekly report of Inmate Housing Cedar-14; Dade-11; Barton-4; Polk-l=30
Reviewed monthly report from the Sheriffs Office.
Reviewed policy updates for the new 2025 Personnel Policy with changes from last week. Motion by Anderson to approve the 2025 Personnel Policies and Procedures effective for 1/1/2025, second by Boultinghouse. Anderson – Yes; Boultinghouse -Yes; Thomton – Yes
