The St. Clair County Commission met Monday, Sept. 16, with Robert Salmon, presiding commissioner; Leroy Strope, north commissioner; Gerald Williams, south commissioner; Debbie Peden, county clerk – absent; Lori Rowe, administrative assistant present.

The Commissioners and the road and bridge supervisor had a general discussion about road conditions and the locations of equipment.

The Commission visited by phone with Hayden Machinery about when to expect delivery of the Track Hoe. It was decided that the company would go ahead and deliver said equipment and accept payment on the last day of the month.

Commissioner Strope made a motion to approve the Land Commissioner’s Sale of Lot 54 at Twin Oakes Harbor to Robert W. Lindsey for $379.18. Motion carried.

The Commissioners spoke with Lindsey Chaffin, of Great River Engineering, about prioritizing the County’s upcoming bridge projects.

Sale tax revenue for October 2019, was $25,037.93.

The Commissioners had a discussion about raod conditions and the locations of equipment. Two (2) constituents came in to meet with the Commission and express concern about NW 101 Rd. With recent rains, parts of the road have washed badly, exposing a pipe. Replacement is already scheduled.

An email was received by the Commission concerning the 2020 Census. The Commission decided to put a link on the St. Clair County website.

Teresa Heckenlively, St. Clair County Economic Developer, met with the Commission and discussed the pagers, computer and programming needed by area fire departments. An MFA grant is being sought to help with these expenses. The Appleton City Lake Clean-up has been rescheduled to Nov. 2. In Lowry City, Teresa, the police chief and the Lowry City Community Betterment Council are working on bringing the Summer Lunch Program to Lowry City. Work is continuing on building up our talent attraction and retention for St. Clair County which will help to recruit new businesses to the area.

Commissioner Strope reported on the West Central Commissioner Quarterly meeting he attended. Topics of discussion included bringing manufacturing to rural areas, an internet tax and funding transportation.
