by Jayden Berten, 9. Saturn is easily one of the most recognizable planets in the solar system, because of its ring being the most observable. Saturn’s ring is definitely a big part of space science, but it is losing a battle between gravity and the Sun’s radiation. Since nature brought it in to this universe, nature can take it out.

This ring is also vanishing a whole lot faster than scientists suspect. It could be completely gone in less than 100 Million years. Lucky for us, we probably won’t see it in our lifetime.

It has been discovered that the reason that the ring is disappearing is a phenomenon called “Ring Rain.” Ring Rain is when a planet starts attracting ring matter and vaporising it. In other words, Saturn is eating its own ring.
