DECA MEMBERS ATTEND STATE CDC – From Sunday, March 11 – Tuesday, March 13, five DECA members from the El Dorado Springs DECA Chapter attended the 70th Annual Missouri State Career Development Conference at Crown Center in Kansas City. There were 1,985 students in attendance from various DECA chapters from around the state of Missouri. While there the students attended the opening session with special guest speaker Jennifer Rothschild, competed in Marketing events, were mesmerized by hypnotist Ricky Kalmon, attended the grand awards session and networked with numerous DECA members, advisors and judges.

During the opening session, Mindy Harper was awarded the Kent McDaniel Memorial Scholarship from the Foundation for Missouri DECA. This scholarship is in memory of past Missouri DECA Board President and Springfield Parkview DECA chapter advisor, Mr. Kent McDaniel. The recipient should exemplify a student whose life has been positively impacted as a result of their involvement in Marketing or Cooperative Career Education and DECA.

Members in attendance were: Mindy Harper, Brayden Housh, Tiffany Nikodim, Alexis Tough, and Landon Zartman. As a DECA advisor, I couldn’t be more proud of the young men and women who attended State CDC. The seniors will be missed next year and my hope is that the underclassmen will step up to the challenge and encourage their fellow students.
