Morgan Mitchell, a senior at El Dorado Springs High School, recently won the West Missouri District Optimist essay contest based on a theme of “How Does an Optimist Mindset Change My Tomorrow?” Mitchell was awarded a $2,500 scholarship for the honor.
“Mitchell did a wonderful job of articulating this year’s theme. She expressed herself well through the essay and deserved the honor of first place,” District Essay Chair Dee Friel said.
