by Madison Hendricks, 12. On Friday, Sept. 9, the El Dorado Springs cross-country team had their second meet of the season. They competed at the Nevada Public Golf Course and crushed their competition.

The high school boys raced at 6 p.m. and finished with first place, with several of the boys earning top 10 medals. Connor Goatley placed first, Garrett Klaiber second, Braxton Watts third, Blayze McCullogh fourth, Sylas Fletcher sixth, and Kolton Nicholas in 10th place. The high school girls raced at 5:30 p.m. and got second place. Not only did they place second, but they earned some medals as well. Individually, Hannah Klaiber got first place, Audrey Goatley placed second, and Lela Brown placed sixth.

Not only did the high school teams do an outstanding job, but so did the middle school. Both middle school girls and boys teams placed first in their races and had some runners in the top 10. For the middle school boys individually, Wyatt Klaiber got first, Tyler Reasoner second, Issac Coquillette fifth, and Carter Smith in sixth place. On the girls’ side, Adalynn Parker got second, Allie Thompson seventh, Riley Lee eighth, Rhielyn Nichols ninth, and Karcyn Radar placed 10th.

Overall, the cross-country team did a great job at the meet, and every team brought back some medals. Coach Goatley said, “everyone ran well, despite the afternoon heat. We had several packs of runners stick together; it was a great day!”
