NEW ROLE FOR JENEAN EHLERS – Jenean Ehlers, RN – Our New Community Services Manager for Cedar County.

There’s a good chance that if you have been around Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, you have probably run into Jenean Ehlers, RN, although she might not have been a Registered Nurse way back in the 1970’s when you first saw her around. She started working at the hospital as a Nurse’s Aide while still a senior in high school in Stockton.

In 1978 she began her college career at the Burge School of Nursing in Springfield and on Oct. 19, 1981, she began as a GN (Graduate Nurse) night nurse before passing her Boards later that year. She worked varying shifts for the next five years and in the mid-80’s started in the newly established Cardiac Rehab program that is still in existence today.

Then in the early 1990’s when Sue Hughes, RN, Director of Nursing, who was a staunch advocate of Health and Wellness, pushed to expand the Cardiac Rehab Program, Jenean took on an expanded and integral role in that department. Through the years she continued to work both the floor and Cardiac Rehab from 1986 – 2002.

In August 2002 she joined our Cedar County Health Department as Public Health Nurse and recently took on her latest role as our NEW Community Services Manager over County Health and In-Home Services. She already serves our area as Cedar County’s Maternal Child Health Nurse; Child Care Consultant; Breast Feeding Peer Coordinator; EPHS-I; Certified Legal Nurse Consultant; Lead Case Manager; Car Seat Technician; Safe Crib Educator; and In-Home Services Designated Nurse Manager.

Jenean is married to Stanley Ehlers, is the mother of four children and grandmother of six. Jenean can be reached at (417) 876-5477.
