PAPE CELEBRATES MOTHERS

PAPE CELEBRATES MOTHERS – On Sunday, Pape Christian Church celebrated mothers through all the services. Carl read several scriptures of mothers and other women of the Bible who followed and traveled with the Disciples and Jesus, caring for them as mothers do.

After Sunday School we celebrated with Pat Martin and sang, “Happy Birthday,” for her.

Those mentioned in prayer were Judy Hadsall, Karl Schmidt, Hope Johns and the families of Connie Davis and Ron Hughes.

Our service hour began with a short play, “Mother Patrol,” with two guardian angels on coffee break, discussing their duties as they keep up with their assigned person. Jason Kaemmerling played the part of a chipper and energetic angel in a bright clean robe who has no trouble following his charge. Dennis Wallen was the ‘other’ angel, in a tattered rumpled ragged robe whose duty was to keep up with a – Mother!

Then Albert Mallicoat read a poem from the heart that touched each one there. And Rhonda Wallen read a poem of a wife’s other mother, her Mother-in-law.

For our Call to Worship, Brother Dennis used Matthew 20:20 – Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of Him. Brother Dennis gave a touching tribute, with a few smiles, to mothers and also to all women in a child’s life because each had a part in molding and shaping who we become as adults.

After the service all of our grandmothers, mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, aunts and cousins posed for a picture to commemorate Mother’s Day. Phyllis Shouse was blessed with four generations with her to share them day.
