Our Leader, Sheryl Ann, called TOPS 9319 to order in the meeting room of the Church of Christ at 302 E. Hospital Rd. on Oct. 19. Turning the floor over to our song leader, Kay, we sang Hand in Hand. Sheryl led us in our exercise by having us march around the room. It was a great way to get us started for the day.

We had 23 weigh in today with a net loss of 5.8 lbs. Our best loser, who doesn’t want his or her name mentioned, lost 2.4 lbs.  Watching portions this week is what worked for this one.

In our Championship Golf Contest, Sheryl Ann is in first place with 68 points. Susan is second place with 52 points. Seems we’re off to a great start!

Steve won the draw for the Marble Game today. Unfortunately, he didn’t draw the white marble – so no winner today.

Our program was brought by Juanita today.  It was taken from a TOPS Program called, Julia’s Dare. She encouraged us to take just one DARE for the week. Make one change and then do it for four weeks:

1. DARE to drink 6-8 8 oz. glasses of water. TOPS recommends drinking 8 glasses.

2. DARE to write down everything you eat. It can remind you of the calories that you have eaten.

3. DARE to exercise at least 15 minutes a day. Find something you enjoy exercising with and do it.

4. DARE to take at least 20 minutes to eat each meal. It takes that long to feel full.

5. DARE to say our TOPS Pledge every day. It says we are intelligent people and we are.

6. DARE to visualize yourself. Picture yourself in something new or not getting winded after walking a flight of stairs. These are successes you can make.

7. DARE to put our health first. Sometimes we tend to put everything and everyone before ourselves. Take care of you.

8. DARE to make small goals. Perhaps you could pay yourself for losing. Maybe $1 a pound, a new pair of shoes or new jewelry – make it something that you want. Make it work for you.

Remember, the scales will not tell you: What a great person you are, How much your family and friends love you, That you are kind, smart, funny and amazing in ways numbers cannot define, That you have the power to choose happiness, or Your own self worth.

Sheryl Ann reminded us we will meet Thanksgiving week on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Sylvia will join us that day and give us insights on the exchange program. Be sure to mark your calendars for this meeting change.

Robbie asked we remember Dan, her brother, who is having heart problems and little Grayson in our prayers.

We closed with the song, The More We Get Together. And our Motto: If it is to be, it is up to me.

Come visit us at a meeting sometime. We start our meeting at 8:45 a.m. and our weigh-in time starts around 7:45 a.m. If you have questions call 876-5699 or 876-6467. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is here to help.
