Rockville United Methodist Church Sunday morning service was held in Forest Park in Appleton City by pastor Larry Sorrels

Mt. Zion Home Bible study was held in the Tom and Beverly Pelkey home Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. with 11 in attendance to study the Bible. Everyone is welcome to join us.

Mt. Zion Club area is grateful for the much needed rain of last week; the grass is growing again, did stop the corn harvest, gardens sure perked up few more tomatoes, fall gardens looking good also.

If you have been bored lately it was your own fault I do believe every town had some sort of entertainment going on; lots on the same day.

Even if the sun hasn’t shone all week, there is a pretty yellow flower growing along the road ditches, wonder what its name is?

Marge Zink enjoyed visiting with former neighbor, Judy Pier, from Waterboro, SC. Judy’s daughter, Penny, from Kansas City, brought her to visit.

Tom Pelkey got the yard mowed between showers and the humming birds are leaving only a couple bottles a day. Tom and Beverly celebrated their 14th anniversary having dinner with Marge Zink.

Several from the area attended the VFW Post 11242 and Ladies Auxiliary meeting Sept. 6, at the Christian Church in Appleton City. We are in need of members; for more information, 660-598-4044 or 660-598-4240.

Recent visitors in the Dixie and Howard Peterson home were Brenda Peterson from Richmond and Mitchel Crawford.

Over at the Robin Siegismund farm, Belle has acquired another chicken that has joined Ethel and Lucy Hen to be tucked in each night in the chicken coop. Marge Hen decided to join them so Robin and Belle tucked Marge Hen in too. I suppose being a retired teacher Robin thinks, what’s one more body.

John and Julia Snethen spent a quite week with John mowing the yard and running his bus route and Julia attended Abby Jarman’s bridal shower with granddaughter, Shella Vandivier, in Brighton Sunday.
