A while back my pastor made a comment before a sermon that gripped and challenged me. He said, “Do you want to see a miracle or do you want to be a miracle?”. Those words have been permanently imprinted in my mind. Now I suppose you could look at this quote in different ways, but I’m going to share how it spoke to me personally.

When I took a look back at scripture, I noticed that people were drawn to Jesus significantly because of the miracles he performed. Who wouldn’t want to hang out with a guy who turned water into wine, or fed 5,000 people with just a few fish and loaves of bread? I mean, He even raised people from the dead and healed people’s ailments.

Seems like often we are the crowd, chasing after a miracle. Miracles come in all shapes and sizes, and they are a great thing to ask for when we are in need, so please don’t misunderstand my heart here. Maybe you’re looking for a financial miracle or perhaps it’s a relational, physical or spiritual one. Seems like between them all, I’m always looking for a miracle. But what if instead of continually looking for a miracle we started being a miracle for someone else. Each one of us are full of miracle stories of how God saved us and changed us. Some of us have financial wonders to share, relational miracles, or physical and spiritual miracles; we all have miracles that can speak to the lives of those who need to hear about a man named Jesus.

We are living, breathing miracles and people need to hear our stories. So how can you be a miracle for those around you? What stories can illuminate Jesus in your life? Maybe God has healed an addiction, or He’s restored your marriage. Perhaps He’s healed your cancer or blessed your finances at the perfect time. Maybe you’ve always lived for Jesus, even as a little child, that too is a miracle! Whatever your miracle looks like, use it to draw people to the miracle maker!

I will thank the Lord with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous works. Psalm 9:1.
