Hartzler statement commemorating sixteenth anniversary of Sept. 11

On the sixteenth anniversary of September 11, 2001, Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) released the following statement:

“The United States of America is the most powerful, prosperous, and free country in the world. We have built our nation on trust in God, faith in the individual’s ability to govern their own affairs, and an unrelenting commitment to freedom.

“Sixteen years ago today, our country and the principles that make us great came under attack. On Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists – motivated by a deep hatred for our way of life – struck our nation, killing thousands of innocent Americans on our own soil. Today, we remember the tragic loss of those Americans. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the loved ones lost on that fateful day. We will forever honor the memory of those victims and the brave officers, firemen, paramedics and others who sacrificed their lives trying to save the lives of others.

“While those terrorists succeeded in wounding us on that day, we have overcome. Sixteen years later, our country has continued the march of freedom and has fought terrorism at every turn. We are committed to keeping our trust in God, holding fast to the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution, and shining as a city on a hill for all the world to see.

“On this Sept. 11, we honor the memory of the victims of that tragic day, and we pledge ourselves anew to the principles that make our nation great. Thank you, and God Bless America.”
