University of Missouri Extension, in partnership with Freeman Health Systems, is offering a free class for individuals with diabetes that are ready to make healthy life changes.

The six-week class will help participants learn ways to self-manage their diabetes and take back control over their health. Participants will enjoy a safe, social environment where they can connect with others going through similar life situations.

Classes start on Wednesday, April 26, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Freeman Business Center conference room, 3220 McClelland Blvd, Joplin.

“If you take care of a loved one with diabetes, this free class will be beneficial to you, too,” said Lindsey Stevenson, nutrition and health education specialist, University of Missouri Extension.

Examples of topics to be covered include menu planning, dealing with stress, and working with your health care professional and health care organization.
