Gary Dean Dobbs, 78, of El Dorado Springs, passed away after a short illness on Monday, April 22, 2019. Gary was born March 31, 1941, to Kenneth and Martha (Gilpin) Dobbs.

Gary was an avid fan of NASCAR and stock car racing in general. He spent many happy nights as a pit crew member for his brother, brother-in-law and nephews. There was no place he’d rather be than at the speedway.

One of his proudest accomplishments was retiring from the El Dorado Springs School District as a custodian after over 13 years of service. An entire generation of children knew him as Dobber, Uncle Gary or Grandpa Dobbs.

Preceding Gary in death were: his parents; one brother, Dennis Dobbs; and two sisters, Patricia Amick and Andrea Yoder.

Survivors include: his wife, Velda and son, Anthony Graves, of the home; two daughters, Teresa Edwards and husband, Kevin, of Lyons, KS, and Tonya Mitchell and husband, Robert, of Boalsburg, PA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters; four brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family received friends on Wednesday, April 24, from 6:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held begin at 10 a,m. Thursday, April 25, in Bland-Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Association and left at the funeral home.
