Phyllis Darline Jackson. 84, was born July 12, 1933, in Underwood, IA, to George O’Doniel and Emma (Rasmussen) O’Doniel. She passed away in El Dorado Springs on Sept. 23, 2017.

There were four girls and one boy and they did everything together. They loved to walk, explore and fish. With a brother involved, they never knew what they’d be doing next. Growing up during the Great Depression, they learned the value of what little they had.

She liked to sew, cook and bake. Phyllis made the best cinnamon rolls and blueberry pancakes. She loved to play the piano. When Phyllis and her sisters would get together, they would sing and speak of old times. They enjoyed each other’s company very much. She made all of her curtains. She enjoyed watching deer in her back yard, naming the fawn, Emily. She enjoyed the hummingbirds, flowers and orchards. She was adamant about a good education and music. Genealogy was another great passion of hers and she said she wished she had a computer when she put together the O’Doniel and Rasmussen family book.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Jackson; son, Leslie Lynn Siemon; parents, George and Emma O’Doniel; brother James O’Doniel, and sister, Hope Riffel.

She is survived by two sisters, Betty Brantley and Bessie Marlatt of Abilene, KS; grandchildren, Douglas Siemon and Christopher Siemon of Idaho; nieces and nephews of Kansas and Nebraska, other relatives in Iowa and many friends.

Services were held Monday, Oct. 2, in Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs. Rev. Jack Daniel and Pastor Steve Singleton officiated.

Interment was in Clintonville Cemetery, El Dorado Springs, under direction of Sheldon Funeral Home.
