The Missouri Conservation Permit Card makes buying hunting and fishing permits a breeze — and it gives you a discount on books, videos, nursery stock, and several other selected Department products.

Stores your conservation info, permits and gives you discounts at nature shops.

The Conservation Permit Card, which looks like a credit card, provides a durable alternative to carrying your permits in paper or electronic form while in the field. As new permits are purchased they are automatically loaded onto the card and are able to be verified electronically by a Conservation Agent.

The Permit Card costs $2 and does not expire. For that added personalized touch, you are able to select from one of four nature-inspired backgrounds to have printed on the Permit Card.

Active permits are able to be verified by going online to mdc.mo.gov/buypermits, using the MO Hunting or MO Fishing applications, at a permit vendor, or by contacting a public Conservation office.

The Permit Card will cover all privilege types with the following exceptions.

• Daily Trout Tags which are only available for purchase at one Missouri’s four trout parks

• Deer and Turkey permits due to notching and telecheck requirements

• White River Border Lakes permit due to reciprocal privileges in Arkansas

• Federal Duck Stamp (including Electronic Duck Stamp) due to Federal regulations

The Conservation Permit Card will replace the Heritage Card and will be used as a single source for hunter education verification, permit purchases and permit verification. And if you lose your hunter education card, you can purchase the Permit Card to replace it if your hunter-ed certification can be verified through Department records.

You get a 15-percent discount on selected retail merchandise sold at Conservation Department facilities.

Note: The Heritage Card will remain valid; however, in order for a card to be carried in lieu of paper or electronic permits, the Permit Card must be possessed.

How do I get one?

You can purchase a Conservation Permit Card for $2 online at mdc.mo.gov/buypermits, at a conservation service center or retail permit vendor. After purchasing the Permit Card it will be mailed to the address on file and will be received within 4 to 6 weeks.

How do I replace a broken, lost or stolen card?

Broken cards may be replaced free of charge by calling 573-522-4115, ext. 3549, or mailing the card to Missouri Department of Conservation, Permit Services, PO Box 180, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0180.

Lost or stolen cards cannot be replaced and will have to be repurchased.

My name changed — how can I get my new name on my permit Card?

We can’t change the name on your card, but we can change the name attributed to your card on our point-of-purchase system. That way, your new name will appear in the vendor’s system when you purchase new permits or MDC Nature Shop products. Just call us at 573-522-4115, ext. 3549. Once updated you may purchase a new Conservation Permit Card which will reflect the updated name.
