Dewey Dickson Arnold, 83, El Dorado Springs, passed away May 13, 2016, in Citizen’s Memorial Hospital, Bolivar.

Dewey was born June 25, 1932, in LaGrange, WY, to Cletis Elton and Anna (Dickson) Arnold. After he graduated high school his family moved near Montevallo. He met the love of his life, Lois, on a blind date and later he often said, “I’ve been blind ever since!” Lois preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2013.

He loved his Lord and family. He was a strict dad, but was always fair, and he raised his children to know a handshake was as good as their word.

    Vernal Nancy Ethel (Crane) Hoffman, 90, rural El Dorado Springs, passed away in her home on Tuesday afternoon, May 10, 2016. Vernal was born Oct. 20, 1925, to Charley and Ella Crane in Cedar County.

    She went to school to become a teacher and was doing that when she met and fell in love with George L. Hoffman. They wed on Sept. 6, 1946. To this union, seven children were born.

    Dean Austin Gayman, 70, Schell City, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016, in Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, following a lengthy illness. Dean was born June 25, 1945, in Schell City to Leo Opal and Lucy Eleanor (Cruse) Gayman.

    His father, Leo, was tragically struck by lightning when Dean was two weeks old. His mother, Lucy, later married Dale Ijams who raised Dean as his son. Dale and Lucy together had five children, making a total of 12 children for them.

    Everett Leroy Rector, 82, El Dorado Springs, left this world on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, after a long illness. Leroy was born on April 26, 1934, to William Everett and Florence Louise (Lusk) Rector in Cedar County.

    Leroy was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. As a young man, he was saved at Concord Missionary Baptist Church on June 23, 1949. He was later a faithful member of Hazel Dell Missionary Baptist Church.
