Erie, KS, angler Eric Craft took 1st place at the Dec. 8 American Bass Anglers qualifying tournament on Stockton Lake. Craft weighed in a 5-fish limit of 12.28 lbs to take the lead from Shawn Freeman of Ozark who had 12.04 lbs.
Jay Carter of Springfield took Big Bass of the tournament (3.83 lbs.) and 3rd place with a weight of 11.79 lbs. Fourth place went to Chris Bridges with 10.36 lbs. 5th place was Bruce Gandy with 10.25 lbs.
The weather was cool all day, starting in the upper 30’s and reaching a high of about 50̊ with-overcast skies and a north wind. Anglers reported catching most of their fish on crankbaits and jigs.
Anglers compete for cash, prizes and points which qualify them to fish a 2-day championship on Stockton in July 2013 and a National Championship on Clarks Hill Lake in Georgia Oct. 23-25, 2013. There will be six more 1-day tournaments and a 2-day Championship held on Stockton Lake. The best four 1-day tournament points and the 2-day points determine year-end point totals for the D126 Angler of the Year award.

ABA was designed for the weekend angler and is open to boaters and non-boaters. It is a draw format with partner pairing taking place the morning of each tournament. Anglers from age 14 can enter these tournaments.
