CLASS WITH GOOD MOVES – On Saturday, May 15, the STAR and PEP classes of El Dorado Springs R-2 School held their 3rd Annual Chess Tournament in the elementary library. All STAR and PEP students in grades K-8 and parents were invited to come and enjoy a morning of challenging games of chess. The purpose of this event was for the gifted students of El Dorado Springs to show off their mental abilities, thinking strategies and decision making, among friends, in a relaxing, but competitive atmosphere. The morning proved very successful and fun for all of the PEP (Primary Enrichment Program) and STAR (Soaring Toward Academic Resourcefulness) students. Students who participated in the tournament were Zoey Burns, Alexia Demint, Avery Floyd, Logan Griffin, Gavin Heuser, Lucas Priesendorf, Aidan Rotert, Tackett Arnold, Emma Berndt, Gracie Mead, Macy Stauffer, Ben Gilbert-Leaver, Ryan Griffin, Dylan Berndt, Brooke Ehlers, Dorion Massengill, Aunika Whitesell, Sam Pippenger and Hunter Jacobs. Many thanks also go to Caleb Alexander and Brandon Compton for helping with the event.
