The winless Clinton Cardinals put one in the W column on their home field Friday night with a 21-0 victory over the 1-2 El Dorado Springs Bulldogs.
The Clinton ground game proved to be the Achilles Heel of the Bulldogs as their big fullback punched through the Bulldog defensive line time after time.
The score was 14-0 at the half with the Cardinals hitting paydirt again in the 4th quarter.
Bulldog Head Coach Harv Welch said, “Clearly we were beaten by a better ball team.”
He said, “We did not tackle well. We did not block well.”
He did say that his team played a lot better football in the second half. They kicked off in the second half and forced a fumble. The only problem was that the Bulldogs returned the favor fumbling at the goal line as they were about to score.
Coach Welch said that the Bulldogs will play the Nevada Tigers at home this Friday night.
He said, “They are similar to Clinton, running the same type of offense but throwing a little more.”
He predicted it will be a tough game for the Bulldogs.
