Secretary of State Jason Kander announced that the Missouri State Library, a division of his office, has distributed over $1.3 million in funding to public library districts throughout the state including $3,495.50 to the Cedar County Library District, $2,096.50 to the Nevada Public Library and $2,169.50 to the St. Clair County Library.
“Local libraries play an important role in our communities by increasing access to educational resources and new technology,” Kander said. “I am proud to provide funding that significantly enhances this effort, and I will continue to advocate for support for Missouri’s public libraries.”
With more than 150 public library districts throughout the state, Kander’s office allocates state aid on a per capita basis twice per year. In Bates, Cedar, Henry, Hickory, St. Clair and Vernon Counties, funding reached $16,367.
