New Kids on the Block 4-H Club meeting report

The New Kids on the Block 4-H Club held their meeting March 13 in the Land O Lakes Fairgrounds metal building. The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Nathen Adams. The American pledge was led by the Arnolds and the 4-H pledge was led by the Carpenters. The Clover kids led the club in the song, “Old MacDonald had a Farm.” Game Leader Tackett Arnold brought the game, Jenga.

Roll call was taken Shaeffer Johnson who filled in for Secretary Sondi Hunter in her absence. The secretary’s report was read by Shaeffer Johnson. The treasurer’s report was given by Vice President Nathen Adams who filled in for Treasurer JR Turner in his absence.

In new business, Taylor Robison began the discussion regarding the Shaping Rural Missouri Grant Program from FCS Financial. After discussion, it was decided to have Julie Rieder and Michelle Robison work on completing the grant application.

Club members were encouraged to begin thinking about a project demonstration they would like to do for the club.

The LOL Fair Board Report was given by Justin Johnson.

Announcements were made: Archery will hold an equipment check meeting on Wednesday, March 26, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the LOL metal building. There will be a market animal registration day from 2-4 p.m. April 27 at the LOL fairgrounds. Do not bring pigs – send pictures only.

The meeting was adjourned and the club did their community service activity, which was a “deep cleaning” of the LOL metal building. The club took apart the refrigerator and cleaned it thoroughly and the two kitchen stoves. Each of the folding tables had its surfaced wiped down with bleach water. The bathrooms were thoroughly cleaned and even the shower curtains were taken down and cleaned by a club member. The entire floors were mopped.. Club members walked the fairgrounds to pick up litter outside the building. The club wanted to do all these items in order to show appreciate for the LOL Fair Board allowing our club to use the facilities throughout the year.

The next club meeting will begin at 6 p.m. April 10, 2014, in the LOL metal building.
