The Class three number 1 ranked Lady Bulldogs played 3 games last week. The first opponent was the Butler Lady Bears. The Lady Bulldogs defense started out slow to begin the game, but really turned it on in the middle of the first quarter to take 28-13 into the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs continued to pressure Butler and hold them to only 3 points, while scoring 25. The Lady Bulldogs didn’t let up in the second half, continuing to increase their lead and allow for the starters to sit during the 4th quarter, winning 87-31. Scoring for the Bulldogs was: Reese Schaaf 28, Neely Schaaf 16, and Macie Mays 12.

The second game of the week was in Warsaw against the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Bulldogs used their pressure defense to jump out to an early 29-3 lead and never looked back. Outscoring the Lady Wildcats in every quarter. The Lady Bulldogs were able to get everyone plenty of playing time and all of the girls did a great job of defending and finding ways to score. Leading scorers in the game: Macie Mays 21, Reese Schaaf 20, Neely Schaaf 10, Tenlie Steward and Abi Schmitt 8 points. Early in the game Reese Schaaf surpassed the 2000th point mark for her career. As far as records go back, Reese is the first player boy or girl to accomplish this mark in El Dorado Spring Basketball history.

The third game of the week saw the Lady Bulldogs travel to Buffalo. The Lady Bulldogs continued their hot starts, as they jumped out to a 21-5 lead in the first quarter. They continued throughout the game to play tough defense and limit Buffalo to one shot. The finished the game with a 72-32 conference win. Leading the Lady Bulldogs in scoring was Reese Schaaf 26, Macie Mays 23, Neely Schaaf 8 and Tevi Gurley 4. With the win the Lady Bulldogs went over the 20 win mark for the third year in a row. The Lady Bulldogs have three regular season games left next week and then will head to the district tournament in Butler, Mo. The Lady Bulldogs are the number 1 seed in the district and will play the winner of Holden and Adrian on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m.
