The controversy surrounding the release of Bowe Bergdahl, who was a POW in Afghanistan for five years, is appalling.
Leave it to politicians to make a mockery of the release of the most famous prisoner of war since John McCain.
Before the President announced the release of the young soldier from Idaho, Republicans had been up in arms about it. They said it was taking too long and they were afraid Bergdahl might be killed by his captors.
Then, in late May, came the announcement of the POW’s release, Suddenly, the situation changed. The Republican leadership in D.C. acted as if President Obama had committed treason by securing Bergdahl’s return. What would they be saying had he been killed?
The Bowe Bergdahl release should be something to unite Americans and make everyone happy and wish the best for this man and his family. The parents were distraught until they were reunited with their son.
