David John, M.D., Rheumatologist has recently joined the Specialty Clinic staff at CCMH. He’s a Missourian, having been born in Springfield and raised in the Kansas City area. He attended UMKC where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology – then went on to attend medical school there at well. He completed a 4-year Residency Program in Internal Medicine at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu before returning to the continental United States for 3 years to study Rheumatology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He ran a Private Practice in Honolulu until six years ago when he moved back to Missouri to add teaching to his resume – at his alma mater UMKC. He has long been interested in providing medical services to rural areas and is now doing just that at Cedar County Memorial Hospital.
He is the father of two daughters, he who loves to travel, is an art collector and a self-proclaimed “Bookie.” He loves all music with genres across the board from Classic to Baroque to Alternate Rock. He loves food – especially Italian and Japanese and commented that he’s “a pretty good cook who can prepare a very appealing Italian meal.” One day he’d like to own a Bentley – cream colored with a chocolate brown interior. Early in his life he considered majoring in English, hoping to write a Novel to win the Noble Prize for Literature – and went on to say – “I still might do that.”
