In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 74 requests for assistance this past week, April 24-30. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 1, Animal Control 9, Assist Other Agencies 13, All Escorts 1, Nuisance 4, All Other Requests for Assistance 58, Summons 3.

Anyone interested in adopting  animals from the City Pound should contact Officer Richards, animal control officer at 876-2313.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On April 18, 2023, officers arrested Matthew T. Charles, 30, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Fugitive from Justice and an active Dade County Warrant for Failure to Appear with the original charge of Fishing without a Permit for a Non-resident with a $200.00 bond and Sedgwick County KS Warrant, charging him with seven felony counts of Rape of a Child less than 14 years old and two counts of felony Attempted Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child. Officers complete a probable cause statement for Fugitive from Justice. Officers received a Cedar County Warrant, charging him with Fugitive from Justice with a $150,000.00 cash bond.  He was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and court appearances.

On April 26, 2023, officers arrested Shawnda Pulley, 40, of El Dorado Springs for multiple El Dorado Springs Municipal warrants charging her with Stealing, 6 counts of Trespass, 2 counts of Fail to Obey Lawful Order and Shoplifting with a $1547.50 bond. She was transferred to Cedar County pending bond and a court appearance.

On April 26, 2023, officers responded to the 200 block of West Olive Street concerning motor vehicle thefts.  The investigation revealed the theft of a black 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up-truck and a red and white 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass passenger car. The Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up-truck was recovered in Vernon County. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On April 27, 2023, officers responded to the junction of South Allison Road and East Fields concerning a motor vehicle crash. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Andrew L. Wendt, 38, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Driving While Intoxicated. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On April 28, 2023, officers arrested Michael B. Owens, 37, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Driving While Revoked. He was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On April 29, 2023, officers responded to 110 South Grand Street concerning a larceny of a bicycle. The investigation revealed the theft of a Huffy bicycle. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On April 30, 2023, officers responded to 1300 South First Street concerning a Domestic Assault.  A suspect has been identified, a report taken and the investigation continues.

On April 30, 2023, officers responded to 410 East US 54 Highway, McDonald’s, concerning a reported disturbance.  Suspects were identified and the investigation continues.
