TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Preferred Family Healthcare building, 700 E. Hospital Rd, El Dorado Springs on Thursday, July 4, for their regular weigh-in and meeting.
Warren, our leader, called the meeting to order.
Carol led us in singing “Our TOPS”
We said our TOPS & KOPS Pledges.
Warren led us in roll call; 17 members weighed in. The chapter had a gain of 8.2 lbs. and a loss of 3.8 pounds which gave us a net gain of 4.4 lbs.
The week’s best loser was Warren with a loss of 1.8. Congratulations.
Awards: Linda H presented awards for June
Rachael received the walking award and charm; Rachel has walked 908 miles since the first of the year. She also lost 3.2 pounds this last quarter.
Linda C received her 500-mile walked certificate.
Jan received her back in black with perfect attendance certificate
Kaelin received her 500 miles walking certificate.
Stephany received best loser for second quarter certificate; she lost 5.6 pounds.
Sheryl and Samantha tied for the best loser for the month. They each lost 1.8 pounds for the month of June. Since the best loser for the month did not lose 5 pounds or more the money in the best loser jar will stay for next month. There is currently $26.20 in the best loser jar, this will increase during the month. The best loser for July could win quite a bit of money.
Pat received her 500-mile walked certificate. She also is 2nd in TOPS Walking. She walked 567 miles and lost 17.8 pounds.

Election: Today is the election of officers. Leader, Co-Leader, Secretary and Treasurer are all elected positions. The only position that had more than one person apply for was co-leader. Those willing to be Co-leader were: Carol, Linda Hall, and Laura. Vote was taken by secret ballot and Linda Hall was chosen as the Co-Leader.
Our new slate of officers (not so new) is: Leader Warren, Co-Leader Linda Hall, Secretary Jean, and Treasurer Sue. Installation of officers will be July 25.
Marble Game: The pot is at $33; Sue won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.
Linda Hall went over the changes to the by-laws made from last week’s meeting.
Pat made a motion to accept these changes to the by-laws. Sue 2nd the motion and motion carried.
Laura will have the program next week.
Summer Contest ends at the end of July.
Measurements start next week. Please see Sharron and Samantha before the meeting to have your measurements taken.
The new Area Advocate, Sandra Chamberland will visit our chapter on July 25. She will present a program and help with installation of officers. The other local TOPS chapter will join us at this meeting on that day.
It is a 166 miles round trip for Sandy. If using 35 cents a mile it totals $60. The chapter usually pays this. Pat made a motion to pay Sandy $60 for her fuel, Sue 2nd. Motion carried.
Pat will be in charge of the program for installation of officers.
Warren read some correspondence from TOPS Officials.
Judy Prewett, TOPS Service Program Administrator, gives us suggestions on how to keep hydrated on these hot summer days. She also asked us to look at our screen time. Try to cut down on your screen time, unplug and recharge.
Information on upcoming Fun Day: Sept. 14, in Springfield, 1500 S. Campbell. Starts at 9:00 a.m. There will be a food truck serving for lunch, cost will be $8.99 plus tax.

The Seeds of Hope Conference in August is coming up soon. We have two members from our group going, Laura and Tammy.
