Commission met on May 1, 2017 with the following present:  Robert Salmon, presiding commission, Leory Strope, north commissioner, Gerald Williams, south commissioner, Debbie Peden, county clerk and Marian McCaslin, administrative assistant.

The commissioners and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed a culvert and Center Rd due to recent rains. Road Supervisor updated Commissioners on other sites that he knew receive damage. Road and Bridge Department were call out checking for washed out roads.

Gary Strack, Shafer, Cline and Warren, telephoned to state he had sent information for BRO Bridge project by Fed Ex. Presiding Commissioner Salmon signed CEPF paperwork for Emergency Management presented by Jeanne Beas.

Commission met May 3 with all present.

The Commissioners and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed a culvert problem on Center Rd. Due to recent rains they further discussed possible road and bridge closures and placing signs at the closure sites, grader locations, culverts and equipment for the back hoe.

Sheridan Garman-Neeman, St. Clair County economic developer, met with the Commissioners and discussed various projects and plans she is working.

Jeanie Cunningham, representing Mike Keith Insurance telephoned to discuss that a consortium is trying to be formed with the counties for future health insurance coverage. The Commissioners informed Cunningham they are satisfied with present health insurance coverage and not interested in a consortium.

The commissioners met May 10 with all present.

Don  Smith, Center and NE 450 Rds was in to inquire about road drains. Smith stated when a road has been graded the drains are covered by gravel and debris and feels a lot could be saved if drains could be maintained. The Commissioner reported they would check into this situation.

Howard Johnson, SE 476 Rd, was in to request a culvert for access to a driveway when trucks are finished with clearing land at the location.

Brian Higgins telephoned to check on a road closure at his land which is located off AA Hwy  on NE 2170 Rd. As this land is located on the Henry County and St. Clair County lines, he was informed to check with Henry County as St. Clair County maps do not show it as a road in St. Clair County.

Bill Lysinger was in to report that a tree had fallen across NE 650 Rd and had been removed. Lysinger requested gravel for the road and stated he would  smooth the gravel out if needed.

Larry Neuenschwander telephoned regarding a BRO bridge project in the Chloe Special Rd District. The Commissioners stated a consultant for the project is to be selected in the near future.

Sales Tax Revenues received for April 2017 were $23,170.73. Sales Tax Revenues were up $3,426.43 compared to one year ago.

A telephone call was received regarding the road being rough behind the Iconium Store. The Commissioners stated the back hoe operators would check out the problem as the motor grader would not be in the area at the present time.
