Adult-youth golf tournament held

On Saturday, July 28, we hosted our annual adult-youth golf tournament at Gene Pray memorial golf course. This is probably our favorite tournament of the year as we have kids from 6 to 15 years old playing a nine hole scramble with an adult. There was some excellent golf played by both the young golfers and the adults. Overall we had the lowest scores ever in this event. We had a full field of 20 teams signed up.

In the 6-9 year old group Maddie and Joe Robison shot a 50, Kambria King and Charles Boultinghouse shot 45, Will and Travis Jackson also had a 45, Hiram and Paxton Berry had a 44, Gunnar and Tyson Basore shot 43, Carter and Jay Smith 43, in a tie for second place was Kannon and Kevin Hill with a 42 and Makena Robison and Randy Bobbett. Taking home the first place trophy was Colt and David Rogers with a score of 40.

In the 10-11 age group Lily Taylor and Chuck Walter shot a 44, Shaky Wynes and John Burrus shot 43, Sky Gibbs and Chace Burrus shot 40, we had a tie for 2nd between Owen and Travis Basore with a 39 and Isaac and Jason Irwin. And in first place with an outstanding 33 was Kadence and Matt Yockey.

In the 12-15 age bracket, Tatum and Bryce Payne shot 43, there was a tie for 2nd between Connor Goatley and Steve Wiseman, and Wriley Taylor and Dick Gardner with a 41. Winning first place with a score of 40 was Landon and Nathan Murry.

We want to thank all the dads, grandpas and friends who participated and help make this a success every year. The kids have a  great time as you can see from the picture. They are the future of golf and if we want to continue this great game, it is these young people, who will provide the next generation of golfers. Great job everyone.
