In case you didn’t leave your house this weekend, it was a cold & wet weekend for Marching Bands. On Saturday, Oct. 13, the Bulldog Band left for the Branson Marching Invitational at 6:30 a.m. Following a long, but GREAT night of football and a drive-in movie, 6 a.m. came way to early for some of the kids…and Mr. White.

The Bulldog Band performed at 10:15 a.m. at Pirate Stadium at Branson High School to a great crowd.  This performance was by far the best run the Bulldog Band has had on this show so far this season. The kids really stepped up, played very well, and marched very strong.

We got to the end of Class 2 when the Festival Managers made the call to cancel Finals and the awards ceremony. From there, they asked the remaining bands if they wanted to go on in the rain.  MOST of the big bands declined. Mr. White made the decision to come home early. We stopped to get some ice cream. Yes, ice cream…in the cold.

At the end of the day, the Bulldog Band earned the following caption awards in Class 1A Preliminary Competition: Outstanding Music, Outstanding Visual and Outstanding Color Guard (three straight competitions). The Bulldog Band brought home 1st place in Class 1A, beating Cotter HS, Arkansas.

The Bulldog Band will be traveling to ONE more competition this season. The Maple Leaf Parade and Field Show in Carthage is always a highlight for the Bulldog Band. The Parade begins at 9 a.m. starting at the courthouse and traveling down Grant, Grand and Centennial Streets. Then the Bulldog Band takes the field at 1 p.m. at the new Carthage High School on River Street. We would love to see a large support group for our Marching Band. It is sure to be a great show and a fun time.

Thank you all for your continued support.
