The weather calmed enough to allow the Bulldogs to get one of their two scheduled games in last week. The game at Lamar was canceled due to the weather but the Bulldogs were able to host the Rich Hill Tigers on Thursday night.

The first quarter was a high scoring affair with the Bulldogs leading 22-14 after the first. El Dorado tightened its defense in the second and outscored Rich Hill 19-7 to take a 41-21 lead into the half.

The Bulldogs held off the Tigers in the second half and came away with a 71-46 victory.

The win puts the Bulldogs at 7-8 on the season.

Shelby McKinney led the Bulldogs with 17 points. Kaiden Simmons added 12 and Trey Babcock 10. Brayden Housh had 9 points and 12 rebounds.

The Bulldogs travel to Clinton this week for the Clinton Tournament. First round action is Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. against the #2 seeded Central Academy of Excellence out of Kansas City.

SLIGHT OPENING – Branden Hayes. Scored 5 points and played good defense.

JV FAST BREAK – Lance Smith driving and No. 11 Ian Masters, shadowing the play. JV Coach Jermy Barger said, “Lance finished with two points but played very well against Rich Hill. Defense, his kind of his specialty because of his athleticism and how hard he works. Everybody scored except one person, which means we were running through our offense and getting everyone involved. We won the game 39-16. The high scorer was Ian Masters with 7, followed by Ian Esry and Preston Robison with 6. The JV is now 7-2 and will host a JV tournament this week January 22-January 25.”
