TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway Thursday, Nov. 8, for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.

Leader Sheryl Ann called our meeting to order and Kay led us in singing “OUR TOPS” We said our TOPS and KOPS pledges.

Sheryl reported 27 weighed in today. The chapter had a loss of 6.8 lbs.  a gain of 16.8 leaving a 10.0 lb. net gain.

The week’s best loser was Sandi with a loss of 2.4 lbs.

We sang Happy Birthday to Robbie and to Margie.

Marble game:  Marie won the chance to draw for the marble but did not get the winning one. The pot was at $118.50 and will be more next week.

Sue read the treasures report for October. Beginning balance $4,644.73. General fund balance of $2,305.88, recognition day fund balance of $2,305.88 for a total ending balance of $4,663.44. Treasure’s report was approved as read.

Sheryl reminded us we will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 20 as Thanksgiving falls on Thursday.

Christmas parade was discussed.  The date is Saturday, Nov. 17. Line up is at 1:30, parade starts at 3 p.m.  Steve and Juanita will be riding in car with LJ. driving rest of members that can will walk and pass out cards with lifesavers on them. Linda and Warren will pull a wagon with a Christmas tree in it and Marie will make signs to go on sides of the car.

Our chapter Christmas party was discussed, Sheryl asked which date we wanted to have it, Dec. 13 or Dec.20. Carol made motion we go with Dec.13, motion carried.

Remember if school is closed due to bad weather, we will not have TOPS. There may be times when we feel it is too bad even if school is going on there will be messages on Facebook and Email. If you feel it is not safe for you do not try to attend.

Sheryl then turned the floor over to Robbie who gave a wonderful program on Veterans Day. She recognized members in our chapter who are Veterans. Warren Hall, Army 1967-1969, Steve Scoville, Air Force 1981-1992 and Melissa Sandel, Air Force 2006-20017. She thanked each of these members for their service to our country.

Then she gave an interesting talk about what is a veteran?

On Nov. 11 we will mark the 100-year anniversary of the end of WW1.

She said we should honor our veterans and if you see someone in uniform or someone who you know is a veteran take the opportunity to thank them for their service.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME”.
