Virginia Lee Porter, 94, El Dorado Springs, passed away Sept. 10, 2020, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Virginia was born in Glenwood, Iowa, on Sept. 2, 1926, to Bernard and Josephine Newman. She married John Ross Decker and to this union four children were born. Then, in 1971, she married Russel H. Porter and moved to his farm near Butler. She was a long-time member of the Butler Assembly of God Church. She loved traveling and enjoyed numerous trips to Israel. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her entire family.

Preceding Virginia in death were her husband, Russel Porter; her parents, Bernard and Josephine Newman; five brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include her four children: Darrell Decker and wife, Mary, of Springfield, Carl Joe Decker and wife, Wanda, Carol Mays and husband, Larry, of El Dorado Springs, and Debra McMahon of Bixby, OK; five grandchildren: Jarrod Mays and wife, Tammy, Shannon Esry and husband, Brandon, Justin Mays and wife, Andrea, all of El Dorado Springs, Sarah Burr and husband, Warren, of Morrisville, and David Decker and wife, Kelly, of Carrollton, OH; one sister, Connie Crowder, of Council Bluffs, IA; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Virginia Porter was held Sunday, Sept. 13, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Trussell officiating. Interment followed at the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Jarrod Mays, Justin Mays, Larry Mays, Brandon Esry, Garrett Mays, and Ian Esry.
