Claudine Rae (Bayless) Burris, 89, was born on Dec. 5, 1933 in Parsons, KS, to Pearl (Mackey) and Claude Bayless. She passed away in Stockton.

She grew up primarily in Parsons, KS, with her parents, Pearl and Courtney Dodd. She graduated from Parsons High School and attended Parsons Junior College.

Claudine worked as a secretary at the Kansas Ordnance Plant and later in life held several positions in sales banking and an assistant for the Register of Deed’s Office. In El Dorado Springs, she obtained her real estate broker’s license and sold real estate.

In 1952, Claudine married Bob Burris, her high school sweetheart. They were married almost 70 years until Bob’s death in 2021.

Claudine and Bob lived in Girard, KS, from 1959 to 1976 when they moved to El Dorado Springs.

Claudine was an active member of the United Methodist Church in El Dorado Springs where she was a lay speaker and trustee. Later she became a member of The Church of Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and her parents. 

Claudine is survived by her daughter Christi Burris of El Dorado Springs, Drs. David and Mary Ann Amos of Santa Fe, NM; Courtney and (David) Buchmann of Prairie Village, KS; Joshua and (Naomi) Amos of Denver, CO; and Drs. Luke and (Lauren) Amos of Prairie Village, KS; grand-nieces Helena Buchmann, Olivia, Athena, Claire and Paloma Amos;  and a host of relatives and friends.

Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.

Burial was Sunday, September 25, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons, KS, under direction of Sheldon Funeral Home.
