Janice L. (Heitz) (Dozler) Preston

Janice L. (Heitz) (Dozler) Preston, daughter of the late Ted and Winnie Mae (Heironymous) Heitz, was born Oct. 15, 1945, in Carthage, MO and died Aug. 11, 2024, at the age of 78 years, nine months and 27 days, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Janice grew up on a farm near Nevada, MO, and attended Nevada High School until her marriage to Cletus C. Dozler on Nov. 4, 1961, in El Dorado Springs. Unto this union were born two sons, Michael and Douglas.

The family returned to El Dorado Springs in 1969 when Cletus transferred to KAMO’s El Dorado Springs office. She pursued many interests in her occupations, mainly in the medical field as a traveling nurse with Sac Osage Home Health, then in the office with Dr. Jaque Reynolds. Her personal hobbies included a passion for gardening, needlepoint and crocheting. Janice’s love of family never wavered as she was indeed a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Winnie Heitz; brothers, Edward, Lester, Bobby Joe and Charles; sister, Bernice; previous husbands, Cletus Dozler, Frank Haines and Kenneth Preston and son, Douglas.

She is survived by her son, Michael Dozler – El Dorado Springs; grandsons, Brennan (Jordan) Dozler, Leeton and Skyler Dozler – Steeleville; granddaughter, Kamaran (Mack) Phillips Leeton; five great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons and her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, with services following at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Interment is at the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery.

The family requests a donation be made to the El Dorado Springs Lions Club, Cedar County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or Camp Galilee in Lieu of flowers.
