After mowing down the competition in the first two rounds of the Walnut Grove tournament, the El Do Softball Bulldogs ran into a buzz saw in the championship game. On Saturday, they fell to Aurora 6 – 3.
• Not even a strong hitting and pitching performance from Tailor Hutsell could carry the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity past Aurora on Saturday as the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity suffered a 6-3 defeat in the championship game of the Walnut Grove tournament.
• Hutsell was hot from the plate for the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity. Hutsell went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. She singled in the third inning and doubled in the seventh inning.
• Hutsell was a workhorse on the rubber for the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity. She allowed four earned runs, five hits and three walks while striking out eight over seven innings of work.
• Marcum got the win for Aurora . She allowed three runs over seven innings. She struck out three, walked two and surrendered eight hits.
• Aurora was sparked by Montgomery and Carr, who teamed up for three hits and two RBIs.
• Hutsell couldn’t get it done in the circle for the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity, taking a loss.
• The bottom of the first saw the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity take an early lead, 1-0. Anyssa Salazar started the rally for the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity with a single. Hutsell then stole home.
• Aurora didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the third inning when it scored on a two-run home run by Carr.
• Aurora brought home one run in the fourth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fourth, Aurora scored on a fielder’s choice, scoring Carr.
• Aurora increased its lead with two runs in the fifth. A sacrifice fly scored #6 to start the scoring in the inning.
• After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the seventh, the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity faced just a 6-3 deficit. An RBI double by Hutsell and an error sparked the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs Varsity’s rally. Finally, Marcum got Makenzie Melton to strike out to end the game.
