Allen Hoover

Allen Hoover, 68, was born in Nevada, MO, on March 21, 1958, to Gene and Sandra (Pollard) Hoover and left this life on July 7, 2026. Allen built a life centered on faith, family, community and unwavering devotion to those he loved most. If you knew Allen, you knew Teresa. Their love story spanned 38 years of marriage and whether they were taking road trips together, exploring parks, cheering from the sidelines or simply enjoying everyday moments, Allen’s greatest joy was sharing life with Teresa.

Together, they raised three sons: Justin (Cara), Kellen (Laura), and Kanon (Audra), who all inherited their father’s love of sports. Allen loved playing football, basketball and baseball, and sports became the backdrop for so many of life’s greatest memories. He and Teresa spent countless hours in bleachers and on ballfields watching their boys compete. As the years passed, those same boys became coaches and Allen’s favorite seat remained wherever he could proudly watch them lead others. In recent years, nothing brought him greater happiness than watching his six grandchildren play, whether an organized sport or backyard baseball or kickball game.

Allen gave his life to Christ as a young adult and was a devoted Christian the rest of his life. He faithfully attended the Church of God (Holiness) and began each day reading his Bible. He served in many ways in the church, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, Easter drama, VBS, greeter, to name a few. But his main goal was to be a Christ-like example to others.

He also believed in a strong community. He generously gave his time in numerous volunteer roles throughout the years, including serving on the local school board, city council, church boards and other community organizations.

Allen attended Southwest Missouri State University and started his career as a CPA until he realized he wanted more time at home with family. He then moved to St. Clair County State Bank, where he earned the trust and respect of customers and coworkers alike. He possessed a remarkable gift with numbers, a talent that was matched only by his impeccable handwriting.

When he wasn’t at the bank or cheering on his family, Allen could often be found tending to his garden. Many hours were spent perfecting the tomatoes and generously shared with others. In addition to the garden, the other staple that everyone enjoyed with Allen were his homemade chocolate chip cookies. These will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Teresa; his children: Justin (Cara), Jennifer, Kellen (Laura), and Kanon (Audra): and his cherished grandchildren: Kaigan, Burkley, Avery, Blake, Emmett, Hayden, and Walker. He is also Survived by his father, Gene Hoover and siblings: Larry, Cheryl (Doug), and Marsha. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Hoover.

Allen will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated by all who had the privilege of calling him husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, and friend.

Service for Allen were held Sunday, July 12, at El Dorado Springs Church of God (Holiness) under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. He was laid to rest in El Dorado Springs City Cemetery.
