Lucas Fornelli of Mound City, KS, launched Saturday with high hopes of catching a limit of bass, as he always does. He did not reach the 5-fish limit, but bagged three bass that went 14.51 lbs on the scales, winning this American Bass Anglers D126 tournament. His weight was anchored by Big Bass of the tournament, a largemouth weighing 6.73 lbs. Fornelli reported catching fish with top-water baits and using a caroling rig. Much of his fishing was done in the upper part of the lake. His total winnings totaled $733.

Second place went to Dominic Cavitt who brought in the only 5-fish limit; it weighed 10.16 lbs. Mike Butcher took 3rd and James Hadley was 4th. Full results with pictures can be viewed at www.centralmidwestbass.com. Like us on facebook.

These anglers are fishing for cash, points and prizes donated by local sponsors. These sponsors can be seen at the above- mentioned website. Points qualify the anglers for national standing positions and their D126 standing position. The top D126 points leader will be declared D126 Angler of the Year and be invited to compete against about 40 other Anglers of the Year from across the nation in October 2017 on the Ouchita River at Monroe, LA. The winner of that competition will take home a fully rigged 2017 Triton TR21. The top 500 anglers from across the nation will be invited to compete in a National Championship held the same time and place as the AOY competition. The winner of this Championship will take home a fully rigged 2017 TR21.

The D126 year-end Championship will be the final tournament of the 2017 season. It will be held June 24-25 on Stockton Lake. This tournament will determine the Stockton Lake Champion as well as the D126 Angler of the Year.

D126 is a draw tournament circuit and open to ABA members from age 14, boater or non-boater; a random draw accomplished the morning of the tournament determines boat position and pairs boaters with non-boaters.  The 2018 season will begin this fall.
