MU Extension Master Gardeners training will begin on Aug. 17 and last through September, October and November on Thursday night. The class will begin at 6 p.m. and last till 9 p.m. The location for the class is the Opera House Arts Council Building on the northeast corner Main and Spring Street near the Park in El Dorado Springs. This is a 10 week horticulture education course that is taught by local professionals in MU Extension and Missouri Department of Conservation.
The course topics are as follows:
• Woody Ornamentals and Trees
• Irrigation, Hobby Greenhouses and Tool Care
• Plant Growth and Development
• Plant Diseases
• Soils & Composting
• Entomology
• Vegetable Gardening
• Flower Gardening
• Growing Fruit Crops
• Turfgrass
After the training, master gardeners can then be volunteers who assist with horticulture education in the community.
Preregistration is required for this series of classes and the cost is $150 per person or $250 per couple sharing material. Registration needs to be done by Aug. 10.
