Sara McEowen, 41, passed away at her home in Jerico Springs surrounded by her family and a friend on March 17, 2018. She was born April 26, 1976, in El Dorado Springs to Ed and Ruth McEowen. Sara was a shining light in all of her interactions. Everyone she met benefited from her genuine open-heartedness

Snaggers did really good on opening day on Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Lake. However, things slowed down during the weekend which is typical early in the season.
VFW Post 257 held their annual dinner and recognition night on Monday, March 19, to honor the winners of the Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy essay contests. The first three places in each contest from the El Dorado Springs R-II School and the El Dorado Christian School were presented monery awards, medals and certificates.
The 6th Annual Daddy-Daughter Evening will be Saturday, April 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the ElDo Youth Center on north Main Street. This year’s theme is Red Carpet Event. Enjoy an evening of music, dancing, refreshments, crafts, prizes, photos and fun. Daughters of all ages are welcomed. Tickets are $25 for a daddy-daughter
The Area Leadership Contest was held at Miller on March 19. The El Dorado Springs FFA Chapter took twelve students. The twelve students consisted of the chapter creed speaker, the division one speaker, the knowledge team, the parliamentary procedure team, and the Chapter secretary. All of the Leadership teams will be moving on to districts.

We had our Area Leadership Development Contest. The kids had to compete today and place so high in their contest to make it to districts. I am proud to say that we took a creed speaker, division I speaker, knowledge team and parliamentary team and they all are advancing to districts. Here are the results:

It was a cold morning as 39 anglers prepared for the launch of the American Bass Anglers Division 126 bass tournament held on Stockton Lake March 17, 2018. Jay Carter won the tournament with a five-fish limit that weighed 14.17 lbs, anchored with Big Bass of the day, a 5.43 lb largemouth. Carter won $1,135
