Amazing number of homes decorated this year

It’s easy to see the holiday season is upon us! The Wonder City of west central Missouri is lit in all its festive glory and home owners are adding to the splendor with their own Christmas lights, décor, music, video and other elements. Chamber CEO Jackson Tough said “The Chamber of Commerce Holiday Home Decorating Contest judges had an extremely difficult time deciding who to award the prizes to again this year, some very close competition indeed! Many contestants have added outstanding accents to set the holiday mood, and some of our local decorating veterans like the place winners really “stepped up their game,” continuing to expand and refine their efforts. Start an annual tradition this year. Bundle up the kids, make some hot chocolate and tour some of the Wonder City’s Holiday Homes this season!”

The Chamber of Commerce thanks the City of El Dorado Springs for their generous contribution to the contest. First Place receives $150 off their city utility bill, 2nd Place receives $75, 3rd Place $50 and 4th Place $25 off their utility bill. We also thank Mike & Joe’s Service Station for supplying the judge’s fuel for the Chamber of Commerce Holiday Home Decorating Contest. If you know these participants please thank them for their efforts to add holiday spirit to our community.

1ST PLACE – Jim Gray, 307 S. Grand – Jim has a very unique entry with amazing technology that includes a 20 foot tree that will have you staring at it for an hour! He also uses a low power radio frequency at 87.9 FM so you can listen to some outstanding holiday tunes! The display is actually synced up with the music. The display continues to grow and includes singing Christmas trees and ornaments, snowflakes, video and more. Jim’s display is simply at a different level than most. This has some WOW factor that you might see in some of the most high tech displays in the area.

2ND PLACE – Justin & Chelsea Jacobs 610 S. High St. – An outstanding holiday home in which Justin and Chelsea added many more lights and decorations again this year! And the lights are synced up with music via their low power radio station frequency at 95.9 FM which is posted on signs in their yard. The large pole tree is great along with a nativity scene in the back yard. We loved the continuous video in the north window too! Can you imagine how much time and resources are invested in a home like this? Another fantastic job of creating holiday spirit this year!

3RD PLACE – David & Sherry Levine 1605 S. Vernon. Veteran lighting aficionados. A consistent participant over the years in the Holiday Home Decorating Contest. The classic looks, inflatables and ornamentation take judges (and you) back to the Christmas past of your childhood. The sheer length and breadth is something to behold, from yard to rooftop! Hours of work show. A consistently fun entry.

4TH PLACE – Keith & Kristy Beisley 304 S. Jackson. This display includes lots of classic lights. Simple beauty is what this display is all about. You can see great some time went into the yard, house small tree, shrubs, the porch and even a vintage pull-behind camper.
